    Carrot Has a New Look!

If you happened to check out carrot.com lately, you’ll notice a lot has changed!

Here at Carrot, we’ve been working intently for the past year refreshing things behind the scenes. We’ve been going through our site, organizing, rebuilding pages using our new Visual Editor, and on top of all of that, updating the Carrot look and feel to better reflect the Core Values that we live and breathe by!

Bright colors and fun illustrations embody the Carrot spirit and our mission to add humanity to business and help you regain time for the things that matter most in life.

But don’t worry; we are still the same great product and nothing will change how you use Carrot in your day-to-day workflow. You’re going to continue to receive the same great service you’ve always gotten from us and a promise that we will always do our best for you!

Being design-led is a smart investment

But why a design refresh? The reality is that design-led companies do better in business. Many people have calculated the ROI on design and there is a lot of data to back it up. According to the McKinsey Quarterly, who created their own design index to measure the success of design-led companies, companies that invested in their design had 32% higher revenue growth and 56% higher shareholder returns than their counterparts.

According to the Design Management Institute who also measures the ROI of “design-centric” companies, there was a 211% return over the S&P 500. According to a report by IBM, design-thinking resulted in a 301% ROI.

What does it mean to be design-led? There are a lot of definitions out there, but for Carrot, it means we prioritize the people we serve. We value constant iteration and improvement in our product, always focusing on the customer needs first. We wanted to make sure that our look and feel reflects our Core Values and our design-led company philosophy.

The Carrot Core Values are: Be a Beacon of Positivity & Possibility, Have Fun & Be Different, Take Initiative & Show You Care, Craft Amazing Experiences, Adapt, Evolve, & Always Improve and Add Humanity To Business. These phrases bring to mind design that has energy, dynamic colors and lots of fun and creativity!

What does this mean for you? We want to continue to grow as a company and bring our product to as many real estate professionals as we can because we believe in our message about regaining time back for the people we serve. This design refresh means that we are committed to always growing, innovating, and bringing the best product we can to our members.

Oh! And since our story has evolved over the past few years, we thought it was about time for a new video to help tell it!

The updates to the Carrot Visual Language

There are a lot of things we did to the Carrot look and feel in order to embody our Core Values visually.

We started with the color palette; we added more complementary tones and more fun and energizing options.

Our previous color palette was a bit limited and used a lot of dark gray and black tones. Dark gray and black is great in a lot of contexts, but it didn’t complement our signature orange as well as we wanted anymore.

The new palette is more robust with more bright options that all work together utilizing complementary colors. We also added tints and shades to round it out and give the design a look with more depth and a brighter tone.

    new Carrot color palette

    We refreshed the logo.

The carrot logo is still the mark that you know and love; we just removed the gradient and updated the carrot top color with our new Carrot teal! This new teal directly complements our signature orange on the color wheel.

    blog logo before and after

Personal touches matter in our business, and we wanted to show that in our designs too.

We replaced generic stock photos of software and dark overlays that had started to look drab with bespoke illustrations, colors, and textures utilizing our new color palette to convey the energy and positivity that we already exude.

    header rebrand before and after

We gave our illustrations and icons a facelift to better represent the concepts behind our software.

We value clarity and creativity and wanted it to shine, so we made some custom Carrot Buds to show our team spirit and the trend just grew from there. Our new digital Carrot Bud is our Carrot team mascot! He leads the way through our software with a little flair, adding some fun moments throughout the site.

From a practical perspective, utilizing illustrations to demonstrate our product offerings has a more contemporary vibe, doesn’t require we update imagery every time there is a new device released, and can help us more easily emphasize the parts of the software that we are trying to highlight.

A little bit of effort goes a long way

How is this relevant to you? Many small companies don’t think their brand matters or that they can focus on other areas of the business and be successful. This is true, but putting even a little bit of effort into your brand has a lot of benefits.

    1. A thoughtful brand builds credibility. We’ve all been to those websites that are poorly designed, and we don’t trust them. By not putting effort into what your brand looks like, it paints the picture that you don’t care about other aspects of your business either.
    2. A clear message makes everyone’s job easier. If your vision and core values are clearly laid out, then your whole team can get behind it and your unified message means marketing and advertising is in alignment with the rest of the company.
    3. A unified vision builds brand advocates. Think of the brands that you love. Have they put energy and effort into their messaging, look and feel? We all have brands that we support and those companies have put a lot of thought and time into how they are presented to the world in order to keep people loyal. Your company should be no different.
    4. A well-designed brand drives a higher price point. The service you provide is obviously important, but if you can nail your brand from a messaging and design perspective, more people will value what you offer and will pay a higher price for it.

How to get started with refreshing your own brand

A design refresh can certainly seem overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. Even putting a little effort into a few things can bring great results.

    1. Think about your business’s mission and vision. Write it down, share it, edit it and hone it in. This is the foundation of your brand. Until you think about this, you won’t be able to nail the visuals. There are a lot of great resources out there about writing this statement.
      Hubspot has some great examples.
    2. Once you have your mission and vision completed, take a look at your logo and color palette. Do they align with your company statements? Do they represent how you want your company to be viewed? A really great logo is usually simple, easy to read, and works in multiple sizes. You can have versions that can be used to post to social media or print on letterhead. Many successful logos are just typography and don’t even have any imagery associated with them.
    3. Once you have your updated mission and vision, logo, and color palette, you can take it a step further and think about the types of photography you might want to use to represent your brand. Don’t be afraid to source stock photography on your website and have some fun!

All of this can certainly be overwhelming, so don’t be afraid to hire a professional to help you. We have a Design Refresh Service or a full Concierge Setup to help you get your site updated and in alignment with your company brand!

  • [Behind the Data] 50% Increase in Motivated Seller Leads from One Simple Test

[Behind the Data] 50% Increase in Motivated Seller Leads from One Simple Test

The hero section… that all-important sliver of real estate at the very top of your website.

It’s a visitor’s first impression of your site and your company, but it plays a different – more important – role as well: it’s your first opportunity to convert those visitors into leads.  As more and more web traffic is taking place on mobile devices, that sliver of website real estate in the hero section is shrinking, and you have to approach it with those (often) competing needs in mind.

How much content is too much?  Is it more important to highlight the form that’s actually generating leads?  How does this change based on whether a visitor is on desktop or mobile?

At Carrot, our Innovation Lab is constantly pondering questions like these – AND launching tests to answer them.

In this post, we’ll outline a series of tests we ran on hero sections that increased conversion rates by anywhere from 25 to 55%, plus we’ll point you in the right direction when it comes to how you should approach the prime real estate (the hero section) on your own site.

    hero section test results

    Example: Hero Section Test Results

    What Did We Test?

Our CTA Hero tests spawned from a very simple realization… the vast majority of conversions across our network of member sites occur exactly where we would expect them to: in the forms found in the hero section.

So we dug in to find out how our members are approaching those hero sections.  It turns out that the answer to that was quite varied.  Some members are stuffing as much content as possible.  Some are reducing the amount of content.  Others include videos, pictures, etc.

So we designed a very simple test… one that pitted what we considered a “traditional” hero section against one that had significantly reduced amounts of content both surrounding the form and in the form itself.

(Traditional Hero Section with several lines of contextual content + a form description)

    Slimmed version of the hero

(Slimmed version of the hero with some contextual content + the form description removed)

A few things immediately stand out with the “slimmed down” version.

    1. The form itself appears more prominent when you remove the form description.  It guides the eye more specifically to the input fields and the final CTA button rather than the text above it.
    2. By matching the content reduction on the contextual blocks (in this case, the information to the left), it decreases the overall footprint of the hero section and begins to “raise” the content immediately below it.

Point #2 is especially important when considering mobile traffic.  At Carrot, we generally see that mobile visitors account for 57% of all traffic and 61% of all conversions across our network.  Our own design principles have been morphed to take a mobile-first approach accordingly, and that is where our primary hypothesis for this test originated from: that by reducing the content in the hero section, it would make the form itself more prominent and appear “above the fold” on mobile, thereby increasing user engagement and ultimately conversions.

    hero section test on mobile

    And The Results….

We launched this test across a myriad of site types, categories, layouts and environments – and the results were quite amazing.

On every individual site where there was enough traffic and conversions over the lifespan of the test to register a statistically significant outcome, the slimmed down version of the hero won (and by large margins!).

    • Test Site #1 – Land Seller Site
      • Conversion uplift of 45.87% – 398 conversions in the slimmed down version versus 259 in the traditional version
    • Test Site #2 – Motivated Seller Site
      • Conversion uplift of 22.35% – 163 conversions versus 137
    • Test Site #3 – Motivated Seller Site
      • Conversion uplift of 46.86% – 102 conversions versus 71

Furthermore, our measurements of user engagement (which include scroll depth, time on page, bounce rate, etc) were significantly improved (by anywhere from 15-25%) on sites with the slimmed down version of the hero.

A few other findings/caveats in our testing design…

    • We wanted to ensure that these changes in the hero section did not improve conversion for mobile versions while harming desktop versions/visitors, so we split up tests accordingly to isolate these visitors.  There were zero cases in which conversion rates increased on mobile and decreased on desktop.
    • Similarly, we wanted to ensure that these changes in the hero section did not negatively impact conversion on forms that may appear lower on the page.  There were zero cases in which lower-ordered forms experienced a drop in conversions that outweighed improvement to the hero section form, and in many cases, those lower forms improved as well (indicative of our increase in user engagement metrics).

In total, this test was a resounding success – the slimmed down version of the hero section performed significantly better on all site types, categories, and versions.

So what does this mean for your site?

It means, generally speaking, that when it comes to your hero section, you should take a “less is more” approach!  Instead of packing that incredibly important part of your website with a wall of text, graphics, videos, etc, minimize it.

Some best practices we recommend from our testing results:

    • Focus on highlighting the form you ultimately want visitors to engage with by removing form descriptions and content surrounding it (as shown in the pictures above).
    • Load your site on your mobile device and see where that form appears.  Does it entirely fit within that initial “above the fold” view?  If not, can you reduce the amount of text that appears above it so that even 50% of the entire form appears in that view?  Our testing indicates that the more a form can appear in that initial view, the better.
    • Avoid placing graphics, images, videos or long-form content in the hero section.  There are so many better places to include that information and content lower on the page!

As we’ve said, that hero section is your website’s prime real estate.  It’s your opportunity to make an impression, sure, but it’s also your first opportunity to convert a visitor into a lead.  We hope that by bringing you these results from our Innovation Lab, it helps you take a closer look at this section on your site and how it could be helping (or harming) your conversion rates.

Read the Full Show Notes Below…

I am super excited to share this installment of our SEO series.  After customizing your website, creating content, and getting everything dialed in, the next step is to send out some signals to let Google know you’re there. You can do this by utilizing backlinks, which will help to drive your rankings forward.

What Are Backlinks and How Many Should You Have?

Backlinks are when your website is mentioned on another person’s website, with a link directling them to your URL. This is crazy important to Google as it enhances your credibility. If other people are talking about you, then you must be good.

The number of backlinks you will need will vary depending on the size of your market. Some small towns may not need any backlinks to do well, whereas larger, more competitive markets, will need quite a few.

You don’t want to go from zero to 1,000 backlinks. Keep it natural because the algorithm is smart. A few places to get backlinks are…

    • Local places to list your business – your local chamber, business directories, etc.
    • Yelp, YellowPages, and other, larger, directory sites
    • Vendors and other businesses you’ve worked with in the past
    • You can create strong, useful content and distribute it to relevant sites
    • Guest post on other relevant blogs and websites
    • Check out what your competition is doing – there are many tools out there that can help

Doing outreach may seem like a lot of work, but it will be worth it. A little effort now can offer rewards for years to come.

How Much Time and Money Will You Spend?

Again, this will depend on the size of your market and how many links you will need to see results. If it is a competitive market, you may want to spend an hour a day for a couple of months on outreach, creating content, and building relationships.

For those who simply want to understand it, but not actually do it, you can hire an SEO firm to help. You can also pay to have your content listed as a guest post on a relevant website, typically paying somewhere around $150 for the post.

The Basics of a Good Backlink

You want your links to be real, to offer value, and to be on relevant websites. It is better to look for something local and highly targeted, as opposed to larger sites that may be more generalized. You want the links to be high quality.

Buying 5,000 links from Fiver can have an adverse effect, which could get you blacklisted completely. Avoid spam, and make sure your links offer value to your potential clients.

    The Importance of Internal Links

Internal linking is linking to other pages that are in your domain. While Carrot sites come with many of these in place, it is a good rule of thumb to go in there and mix them up a bit. If you are using our automated content, be sure to add some internal links within your website where appropriate.

In addition, it can be a good idea to add some external links to your different pages. This shows Google that you aren’t trying to get all of the focus on you, rather you are trying to help your reader get the best information possible.

Keith likes to add a hyperlink to Google Maps when he is showing off properties he has purchased in the past. He has seen great results from this small trick.

    What to Avoid With Backlinks

There are a lot of mistakes people make when it comes to backlinks. The biggest is buying fake links that will make your site appear spammy. Adding these links can drop your rankings, which is the opposite of what you want.

Avoid anything spammy, where you are just coping and pasting. Just like your business, your links should be there to add value for the reader.

All of this may seem like work, and it is. However, stacking these evergreen bricks now will offer you rewards for years to come. You can either spend your time running on the hamster wheel or refocus some of your time on creating great content and building those links!

    Why Do I Need IDX?

Websites like Zillow, Realtor.com, and Redfin have quickly become household names over the past several years for anyone looking to casually browse for properties or begin a serious home search.

Creating an easy-to-use, comprehensive home search experience directly on your website keeps visitors on your Carrot site for longer — and that helps increase your chances of converting those visitors into leads.

    Carrot IDX

    Carrot IDX Improvements

This update to Carrot IDX is an all-around improvement that will help our Agent sites rival the big names in online home search:

    1. Streamlined property search

This update streamlines the property search experience by combining Advanced Search with mapped results. Now, when visitors are narrowing their search for properties, the map populates in real-time with listings that meet their parameters. Visitors can also pan and zoom across the map while in their filtered search.

    2. Improved map view

Visitors can click, drag, and zoom to browse properties by location, or draw a polygon to filter down their search. The list of available properties updates as visitors navigate through the map, and the sweeten the deal — visitors can click on and flip through photos without leaving the map!

    3. More Advanced Search options

Site visitors can refine their search directly from the map view from a variety of Advanced Search options. From schools and specific property features — pools only, please! — to house style and property condition, visitors have a multitude of MLS-search filters that will help them find the perfect home for them.

… And We Aren’t Stopping There.

We are always looking to evolve, innovate, and improve Carrot to provide the best product for our members and the best experience for their site visitors. What better way to figure out how to do that than to listen to what our members have to say?

So over the past several months, the Carrot Product team has been connecting with our Agent members to learn how the Carrot platform can better solve the problems facing today’s real estate agents.

We heard from our members how important it is to have an easy-to-use, comprehensive property search and beautiful MLS listings on their sites to rival the big names in online home search that their sites are competing with today. That’s why we updated Carrot IDX to provide members with the latest in IDX property listings and search directly on their Carrot sites.

  • [ALERT] iOS 14 Update: How It’s Going to Affect Real Estate Facebook Ads and What You Can Do to Prepare

[ALERT] iOS 14 Update: How It’s Going to Affect Real Estate Facebook Ads and What You Can Do to Prepare

In early 2021, the Apple iOS 14 update and Facebook Ads changes are coming.

As usual, the update improves things like speed, ease of use, and app management for iPhone users.

But this update introduces a new feature that has marketers, advertisers, and even social media platforms concerned.

Put simply, the update requires developers to attain permission from iOS users before tracking the person’s information.

Here’s how Apple explains it on their update page…

“Developers will be required to get your permission before tracking you. See which apps you have given permission to track in Settings so you can change your preferences.”

So how does that impact advertising efforts on sites like Facebook?

    Let’s talk about that.

The iOS 14 Update: What Is It?

Apple will begin requiring that all apps from their app store provide a proactive prompt that allows users to either opt-in or out of data collection.

This is an evolution in marketing and technology and will no doubt have an impact on the marketing world. If you look back in the relatively short history of digital marketing big changes like this are actually fairly common.

For example, Google updates its search algorithm often – and when it does you will usually hear a few people losing their minds that “SEO IS DEAD” but if you look for the level heads, you will find practical ways to adapt and optimize.

In the mid-2000’s when Pop Up Blockers were created, many people thought digital ads were done for, and even Facebook themselves have implemented multiple changes to their algorithm and policies that have impacted advertisers.

The sky is not falling — and for level-headed, consistent marketers this could well be an excellent opportunity to leave lazy and one-trick pony competitors in the dust. The principles of good marketing remain unchanged – the right message to the right people at the right time

There are impacts to advertisers that use SDK for App downloads – not included in these notes.

    What Will Be Changing?

Apple is rolling out a new privatized click measurement protocol – “Private Click Measurement” (PCM)

This does not support app to web conversion measurement (IE Instagram to Website)
This also does not support cross-domain measurement – for example, if you redirect from .com to a .de or .uk

Facebook is implementing their own solution as a counter measure which will support app to web but still cannot support cross domain measurement.

    • Facebook campaigns can only optimize on up to 8 events. Any campaigns optimizing on more than 8 events will be paused.
-This limitation is not per pixel but per domain ( so if a domain has multiple pixels on it, any events would cant towards all pixels)
    • Subdomains are subject to this limitation
    • If a user opts-in to data collection then you can use the 8 events. If they opt-out, you can only have 1 event which is why prioritization is so important. FB can only report on one event.
    • The standard conversion window will also change to 7-day click and NO view through. In the past, the standard was 7-day click and 1-day view-through. For real estate investors where not a lot of events are occurring (by Facebook standards) sometimes a 28-day click window would be used. Those will no longer be available to use. So while the same amount of events might still be happening, your ability to track them will decrease.
-We will see a decrease in website customer audience sizes and an increase in overlap of audiences.
-Advertisers using more complex pixel-based audiences will feel this more
-breakdowns by demographic will no longer be available for conversion events
    • You will see less ad reach on the Facebok Ad Network (ads outside of Facebook)

Here’s What You Can Do To Your Facebook Ads To Be Ready For the Change

    • Verify your domain
    • Prioritize and configure your top 8 events (you must prioritize these so Facebook knows which events to focus on reporting)
    • Anticipate changes in attribution windows – conversions will happen outside of that, but will not be reported (audiences rules will change)
    • Reestablish baselines of performance.
    • After changing one of our 8 events or reprioritizing – wait about 3 days before running ads again)

How The iOS 14 Update Impacts Advertising Results

What makes an advertising campaign effective?

Is it the content of the ad? The sales copy? The image?

Well, partly. But even if you have phenomenal sales copy and an eye-catching image, you’re not going to be able to consistently generate leads if you’re targeting the wrong people.

Advertising platforms have always prided themselves on being able to provide businesses with extremely specific and personalized market information.

On Facebook, for instance, businesses have always been able to target people who are interested in a certain topic, of a certain demographic.

That’s what makes these platforms so darn effective.

You’re not targeting everyone, you’re targeting the right people.

That drives down advertising costs and you get more bang for your buck.

But this new update requires developers to acquire permission from iOS users in order to track personal information.

This means, for instance, that people can opt-out of giving Facebook their information. If that happens en masse, then businesses are going to see more expensive advertising costs.

Even Facebook is admitting to this problem

“Apple’s proposed changes will limit your ability to effectively reach, understand and engage people on mobile devices and across the web. They will impact your ability to understand performance, control who sees your ads and make informed decisions about your advertising budgets. As these changes take effect, over time you may see an overall decrease in ad performance and personalization and an increase in cost per action.”

This problem becomes a little more real when you realize that over 50% of mobile sessions on Carrot member sites were from Apple products in 2020.

real estate sessions on apple mobile devices in 2020
Apple Mobile Device Sessions on Carrot Member Websites in 2020

Additionally, mobile devices made up over 54% of all real estate sessions in 2020.

sessions per device type in 2020
Carrot Member Website Sessions Per Device in 2020

It’s difficult to know just how big of a problem this will be for businesses that depend on Facebook and other similar platforms for their ads and lead-gen.

But it’s certainly changing the game.

In fact, there are two things that this indicates.

The first is that Facebook advertising is going to likely become less profitable as time goes on. This won’t happen immediately, but it’s something that every business owner should be aware of.

And second, it’s a pretty strong indication that this is the way the future is going.

As consumers become increasingly concerned about giving their personal information to advertisers, to compete, phone and desktop companies (like Apple) are going to start giving users the ability to opt-out of being tracked.

    Consider that, as Fortune reports

“Nearly 80% of U.S. adults are “somewhat” or “very” concerned about how companies use their personal digital data, the Pew Research Center said on Friday, proving a suspicion that already existed. Additionally, 81% of adults feel they have little or no control over the data companies collect.”

In other words, this dilemma isn’t going away anytime soon.

The question then is, as a business owner, how should you prepare for what the future holds?

As with all major marketing companies, Facebook will eventually figure out a way around this change. But, now is a great time for you to future-proof your business so that marketing and generating leads doesn’t become a bottleneck?

That’s where evergreen marketing comes in.

Evergreen Marketing is Becoming More Important Than Ever

To avoid prepare your business for the future, you need to understand the difference between evergreen marketing and interruption marketing.

Interruption marketing is what most business owners are familiar with — you interupt the prospects when they’re doing something unrelated to what you’re offering and try to grab their attention.

This is how Facebook ads, direct mail, billboards, bandit signs, and cold calling all work.

If you’re targeting the right people, this can be pretty effective. But it’s the targeting that the iOS update — and likely future iterations — are making more difficult.

Of course, we’re not telling you to completely eliminate interruption marketing from your advertising strategy. So long as it’s helping you close profitable deals, you should keep doing it.

But it’s also important that you work to build a more long-term lead-gen machine.

After all, interuption marketing tactics are short term.

You might get a spike of leads when you run the ad or send the mailer, but if you stop advertising, then the leads stop flowing.

    Is there an alternative?

Yes! And it’s called evergreen marketing.

The Oxford definition for “evergreen” is helpful for understanding what we’re talking about…

“relating to or denoting a plant that retains green leaves throughout the year.”

The general idea behind evergreen marketing is that it keeps on giving. It doesn’t stop generating leads when you take a break… it’s sustainable.

For a marketing campaign to be evergreen, there is one main criterion: It must act as a marketing asset and that asset keeps generating leads long after you stop putting time and money into it.

Interuption marketing is like hunting for your leads… and evergreen marketing is like farming for your leads.

And since evergreen marketing benefits the consumer as well as the business (because it doesn’t feel like an invasion of privacy), it’s unlikely to be impacted by upcoming security policies like iOS 14.

The crown jewel of evergreen marketing is SEO — ranking your website in Google to drive traffic and generate leads.

    Ranking In Google

Getting your website ranked organically in Google is one of the most effective evergreen marketing strategies known to business owners.

That’s why, this year, businesses have spent around $80 billion on SEO (Search Engine Optimization) services.

    Why is SEO so valuable?

    Let’s look at an example.

Imagine that you’re a real estate investor in San Antonio.

Well, with a bit of research, we find that “Sell my house fast in San Antonio” gets a whopping 1,600 searches every single month in Google.

Google Search Volume for real estate terms

Think about it: that’s 1,600 people every single month who are searching for someone who can help them sell their house fast.

If you’re an investor in San Antonio, those people are your target market.

Now imagine that you were able to get your website ranking near the top of page 1 for that keyword phrase.

Google search results for sell my house fast san antonio

Assuming that your website is built to convert visitors into leads as seamlessly as possible (that’s what we specialize in helping agents and investors with at Carrot!), then a lot of people are going to click and a lot of people are going to convert.

That means more lead and deals for your business without more work or marketing dollars.

And that’s what we see when we look at the data.

The first organic result on search phrases in Google recieve 34% of the clicks and traffic. The second position receives 17%, and the third receives 11.4%. So on and so forth.

But the farther you are from the top of page 1, the less clicks you’re going to get.

In fact, if you’re on page two, then you’re practically invisible.

So there are a few questions we have to answer.

    1. How do you get your website to page one?
    2. How do you do that for not just one high-value phrase, but for multiple… so that you’re driving traffic on autopilot?
    3. How do you make sure that you website is optimized to convert that traffic into leads?

Here’s a brief overview of how each of those pieces works (and some practical advice for what you can do to improve your rankings).

How Do You Improve Your Website’s Rankings?

The content that Google chooses to rank for a given search is based on their extremely complex algorithm.

But the good news is that the most important factors in this algorithm are mostly known.

Because while there are a lot of different factors inside of Google’s algorithm, not all of those factors are equal.

Here are some of the most important SEO for real estate factors to consider…

    • Site Speed — Google wants page 1 results to load fast for its users. So it’s important to have a fast website. This mostly depends on your website hosting. All Carrot websites have lightning-fast hosting included.
    • Keyword Optimization — Google uses the words on your website’s pages to determine what phrases to rank it for. If you want to rank for “sell my house fast”, then you need to include that phrase in your title tag, meta description, URL, and the content of your page as well.
    • Mobile Optimization — Most internet traffic is now mobile. And Google knows that, so your website needs to be optimized for mobile traffic if it’s going to rank. All Carrot sites are automatically mobile friendly!

How Do You Rank For Multiple High-value Phrases In Google?

The key to ranking for multiple high-value keyword phrases in Google (sell my house fast, how to deal with probate, sell my house for cash, etc) is to create various pages that target those keywords.

You definitely don’t want to try and rank the same page for multiple keywords that are all very different.

By doing that, you’ll probably end up ranking for nothing.

The easiest ways to do this are by (1) publishing new content on your blog consistently — Carrot provides Content Pro and Advanced Marketer members with monthly blog posts! — and (2) creating new sales pages that target different keywords — you can also do this easily with Carrot!

Think of each new page or blog post as a doorway.

It’s another thing that can rank in Google and potentially drive traffic to your website. The more doorways you have, the more traffic you’ll drive!

How Do You Optimize Your Website To Convert SEO Traffic Into Leads?

    Here’s the reality.

Website traffic that comes through evergreen marketing tactics like SEO isn’t very valuable if it’s not turning into leads for your business consistently.

So you need to make sure that you website is optimized to convert.

    How?

Well, there’s an entire science to this.

And at Carrot, we’ve spent years studying, testing, and iterating to make all of our agent and investor websites convert as consistently as possible.

Many of our members get 10% – 30% conversion rates!

If you want to join the club and get a headstart on your SEO and evergreen marketing, you can try Carrot risk-free for 30 days!

    Conclusion

The iOS 14 update is going to make advertising on platforms like Facebook a little uncertain for a while.

More than anything, this decision is a sign of things to come.

Consumers don’t like their data being taken so this trend isn’t going to stop anytime soon.

The answer, though, is to transition over to evergreen marketing.

And you can use the above tactics to get started!

How to Master Your Real Estate Follow-Up with Gary Boomershine & Robert Syfert of RealEstateInvestor.com

As they say, the fortune is in the follow-up. Gary Boomershine and Robert Syfert have mastered it. From flipping properties, offering turnkey rentals, and creating some of the most robust software, these guys have done it all.

Today we will learn about their scripts, sequences, and how creating great habits have improved every aspect of their lives. If you are struggling to convert the leads you’re bringing in, this episode of the Carrotcast is for you!

Read the Full Show Notes Below…

I’ve known Gary and Robert for several years and I have seen their businesses grow and evolve. They have now partnered up to create a wealth of solutions for investors and agents using their incredible software programs.

For our Carrot members, they will integrate their software into your site without any fees. So what is the focus of their software?

    Follow-up.

And here is why it is so important…

Per Robert, If a phone lead comes in and you don’t follow up within the first 15 minutes, you are 400% less likely to close that deal. They have moved on. The time is even less with online leads. If you haven’t responded within 5 minutes, they are likely on another website, likely speaking with someone else.

    The Art of Following Through

What if Michael Jordan quit? What if Bill Gates became discouraged by all of the people saying no, that he just gave up? So many people fail to follow through when they are so close to getting the gold.

For investors, the follow-through comes in the follow-up. You can’t reach out to a person one or two times and expect a sale. Many people you speak to won’t be ready to sell the first time you talk to them. In fact, most sales occur after the 6th contact or later.

    Persistence Without Annoyance

Gary and Robert use a very specific follow-up sequence. They do what works for them, but you will need to set up a follow-up sequence that works for your business and personality. Above all else, it is important to be genuine.

Their system involves three key touchpoints to start.

They will reach out using all three methods for the first couple days, then sow down a bit. If there is no response, they follow up with direct mail. Everything is massively sequenced and set-up in advance. This is the only way to be consistent which is the most important part of the process.

Remember, there’s a 90% chance you won’t close the deal on the first call. Following up is the only way you are going to close the deals you want. And keep in mind, it costs ten times more to generate the lead than all of your follow-up combined.

    Shaking The Skeletons

Robert and Gary use an overseas call center to manage and screen leads. At first, they didn’t think it was possible. But once they found the right people who were sharp, professional, and determined, there was no stopping them.

Many business owner feel a call center will turn into an objection from potential sellers. If they hear a foreign accent, they will question the credibility of the company. However, they’ve come up with the perfect solution.

If someone questions where one of their representatives is located, the rep will say: “Yes, I am in the Philippines. I was hired to help with calls so that we could pay you the most money possible for your property. How am I doing? Is there anything I could be doing better or do you have feedback for my boss?”

Once these words are spoken, the potential seller is disarmed. By openly stating who they are and why they are calling, they are building trust and making the call more personal. Once the rep has qualified the lead, they are then transferred to a team member in the US to close the deal.

These are two different roles that require two different teams. So anything you want to hide about your business, any skeletons in the closet, get them out there and make those skeletons dance.

    Creating Habits To Improve Accountability

Just like staying consistent in your follow-up, it is important to stay consistent in all aspects of your life and business. We often talk about staying disciplined and creating good habits and just recently, Gary completed a challenge called 75 Hard.

This challenge helped him not only develop good habits but to also dive into psychological patterns he didn’t even realize he had. It isn’t about working out, it is about creating discipline and ending your excuses. The challenge goes like this:

For 75 days in a row you must:

    • Work out twice a day for 45 minutes. One of those sessions needs to be outside. Even if you live in Florida like Gary and it’s raining.
    • Drink one gallon of water every day.
    • Read 10 pages of a personal development book.
    • Get on a diet program – any program, and stick with it, no cheat meals.
    • No alcohol whatsoever.
    • Take an accountability picture every single day whether you feel like it or not.

If you miss any aspect of the challenge, you have to start over. Gary learned that even though he thought he was so focused on growth, he really wasn’t. He made excuses and put things off. Doing this challenge has helped him look within and change those habits.

Doing something like this can be difficult without the right support. Getting a coach can be a great way to do it. There are coaches out there that can help you with business, fitness, and personal matters.

Look around until you find the right one. To gain the support of those around you, don’t tell them what you want. Instead, lead by example. As my coach says… Be the lighthouse, not the tug boat.

International Carrot Day – Announcing the Carrot Impact Fund

It’s a special day today. Not only is it International Carrot Day today (April 4th, Google it. It’s a real holiday) and we’re celebrating all things Carrot today with a virtual party from our home offices.

But we’re also celebrating the official announcement of our new Carrot Impact Fund as our latest commitment to go ALL IN on impact.

We’re officially committing $500,000 to help serve the communities we live, work, and play in to help fuel our giving program for years to come.

"We're Going All In on Impact." | International Carrot Day Announcement 2020

Now Be Honest… Why did you really want to become an entrepreneur?

    Time? Freedom? Money?

For years, I struggled to answer that question. There was something missing in my past businesses. I couldn’t find the happiness that took it to the next level.

    I couldn’t connect with that life-changing moment.

We create businesses for three main reasons:

    • Freedom
    • Flexibility
    • Finances

The problem is we were missing one…

    IMPACT

We’re going all in on not just making an income but making a real impact. All in on stepping up as a small business in these times to do what we feel doing business is all about.

For a few years, we’ve had our “Carrot Giving” program where we’ve given 1% of our gross revenue to causes that amplify our Core Values here at Carrot.

    Supporting Local Youth Through UVBO

    Housing Homeless Female Veterans

    Feeding
    Families Across America

    It’s been AMAZING!

Seeing the impact it’s made on our communities, our team, our members, and those directly impacted by our gives has inspired us.

Inspired us to not just give when things are going great. But to commit to giving at a larger scale so it’s fully a part of our soul as a company… not just “something we do”.

Head over and check out our official announcement on the Carrot Impact Fund and see ways you can start to make an even greater impact in your own community.

We want to help you make a bigger impact on your life and business!

    We want to help create…

    A more positive world.

A world where more people genuinely care about others.

A world that celebrates creativity and being open-minded.

A world that is grateful for what we’ve been blessed with — even in hard times.

A world that sets high standards for ourselves and thirsty for self-improvement.

A world where money empowers and uplifts… it doesn’t separate.

A world where transparency is rewarded and honesty is the norm.

A world where companies place customer happiness over profits… and funny thing… you become more profitable because of it.

    And…

a world that’s more fun and doesn’t take itself so seriously.

    Announcing the Carrot Impact Fund!

This announcement isn’t about us. It’s not about celebrating Carrot. Yes, we’re excited about those the Impact Fund will help and we’re proud of the hard work it’s taken to get here.

But, it’s really about the part of why we exist.

For us, we’re on a mission to Be A Beacon Of Positivity and Possibility and to create a ripple effect of small businesses that do good while they do great work.

    We Want To Challenge You

We hope you’ll take our challenge to join the movement and to start to make a greater impact today.

If you already have a giving program, you rock.

The impact we can all make together will reach MILLIONS of people over the coming years.

Maybe you’ve been waiting for the “perfect” cause or for the day you have “enough” to give. But, what if that perfect day never comes?

If we don’t give our time and money to amazing causes when we don’t have it… we likely won’t do it when we do.

So my challenge for you is to start.

    Just start.

    See you over there

Don’t Forget to Share + Celebrate

We want people to share what they are doing to make an impact.
