EP 488: The Who Before the Do Truck Talk

Have you ever noticed that you can’t get what you want if you only talk about and think about what you don’t want? It’s time for a mindset shift!

Let’s reflect on those moments when you think, “This is wrong, this is wrong, I hope this doesn’t happen.” We all do it, right? But what if, instead, we focused on what we do want? Those thoughts about what you don’t want are reflecting who you think you are. The good news? You have the power to rewire that.

Join me in this journey as we discuss making habits stick, contrary to what you might have read in “Atomic Habits,” a fantastic book. We’re delving into the importance of identity in the habits you’re trying to adopt. Remember, to change your actions, you must change how you think of yourself.

I’m sharing a valuable life truth from “The Power to Change” by Craig Groeschel: “To change what you do, first, you need to change the way you think of yourself.”

    Powerful, right?

It’s like pulling up weeds without getting to the root if you try to change your behavior without changing your identity.

But here’s the kicker – who you listen to shapes your who. Surround yourself with people who uplift, encourage, and see the possibilities. If your environment is filled with negativity and lacks abundance, it’s time to make a change. The people around you shape who you are, so choose wisely.

I challenge you to believe in yourself. You can achieve whatever you set your mind to. Someone, somewhere, has done what you’re aspiring to do in a similar situation. So, it’s not just possible; it’s probable. Visualize the person you want to become, write it down, and make it happen.

To dive deeper into the identity shift process, check out my recent Epic call at carrot.com/2024.

  • EP 484: My 3 Biggest Leadership Discoveries in 2023 Truck Talk

EP 484: My 3 Biggest Leadership Discoveries in 2023 Truck Talk

I’m diving into the core concepts of leadership, business growth, and self-reflection that I’ve been contemplating during my annual personal planning retreat. I’m excited to share my key takeaways from this year, packed with insights that have redefined how I approach entrepreneurship and leadership.

I’ll be breaking down some profound insights that have guided my path and shifted my mindset, aiming to inspire you as entrepreneurs and business owners. We’re going to explore critical principles, from understanding the power of clarity to recognizing the complexities that hinder growth.

Let’s start by challenging the notion of what we truly want versus what we think others expect of us. I delve into the concept of ‘The Ideal Average Day’ and urge you to envision what your business and personal life would look like if you waved that magic wand. Are you aligning your vision with your true desires or are there parts influenced by external expectations?

We’ll unravel the myth around burnout—it’s not just about working too much, but rather, it’s rooted in neglecting the activities outside work that energize and fulfill us. Discover how aligning your work with your identity outside the occupation can liberate your decision-making and lead to a more balanced life.

The intricacies of leadership, communication, and team dynamics are also on the table. We’ll explore how actions are perceived and how your words can echo much louder than intended within your team. Recognizing this can lead to more effective communication and team collaboration.

Finally, I’ll touch on the fascinating concept of simplification. The ‘ceiling of complexity’ often stalls progress. Learn how to simplify your approach, delegate effectively, and focus on what truly matters for your business and personal well-being.

I invite you to join me for my epic annual planning call at carrot.com/2024 (replay), where I’ll unpack these insights further, sharing even more detail on my biggest wins, failures, and how to use these learnings to plan your most successful year yet! I’ve distilled these concepts to fuel your growth, empower your leadership journey, and inspire a mindset shift.

Don’t miss out—share this video with fellow entrepreneurs, business owners, or anyone looking to transform their approach to work and life!
